Missouri offers reciprocity for professional Counselors licensed in other states who have a minimum of one (1) year of licensure, assessed on a case-by-case basis. Interested applicants are required to submit the licensure by reciprocity application form along with evidence of their current licensure. A reciprocity checklist is available for applicants to familiarize themselves with the requirements – Reciprocity Checklist.
The licensing committee carefully evaluates each application package and reviews the licensing standards of the applicant’s originating state to ensure they are comparable to or exceed those of Missouri. Successful applicants must pass the Missouri Legal and Ethical Responsibilities Examination, fulfill a two (2)-hour suicide prevention training requirement, and provide a current background check obtained through the Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS). Upon approval by the Committee, applicants will be granted their LPC license.
